Watercolour and wet techniques

Among the water-based painting techniques that first appeared in ancient Egypt, referred to as distempers, we find gouache, wash and watercolour. The latter is a very specific artistic style based on particular gestures.

Choosing the right paper is vital as it determines how the colours will be diffused, how fast they are absorbed and the final texture of the work.
