31st Festival International du Film Fantastique de Gérardmer
The 31st Festival International du film Fantastique will be held in Gérardmer from 31 January to 4 February 2024.
“After the success of the thirtieth Festival, we wanted to return to the roots of our art with a poster featuring Nosferatu and two jury presidents from the literary world, to which fantasy cinema owes a great deal. Writing unleashes rich, unlimited imaginary worlds especially conducive to the genre that has our favours, but which largely inspire the world of the arts. Nothing in this world escapes the attention of writers, and their work is far more likely to contain grains of truth than prattlings of untruths. We will be celebrating the marriage of literature and cinema with a round table of protagonists from this fantastic story.”
Bruno Barde, festival director.
Bernard Werber, French writer and director famous for his Ants trilogy, will be chairing the feature films jury this year. Author of many novels blending science fiction with philosophy and spirituality such as Les Thanatonautes and L’Empire des Anges, he can claim to be the creator of a new literary genre, “philosophy fiction”.

Bernard Minier has sold over 5 million copies of his novels and in 2020 joined the Top 10 most read authors in France. This year he published An Eye in the Night, his eleventh novel.
