Introduce yourself briefly
My name is Gautier Konter and I’m 34 years old. I’m married and a proud father of four children.
Have long have you worked for ARCHES®?
I’ve been working at Arches since January 2026. I was recruited through a temp agency.
What is your job and what does it involve?
I’m an assistant machine operator. My job consists in helping the operator prepare and start up the cylinder mould machine. I also carry out tests to check that the properties and quality of the paper we make comply with the required standards.


What qualities are needed to do your job?
You have to be rigorous, focused and methodical. You also need to be motivated to learn new things and find solutions to make sure our paper meets customer expectations.
Did you have any specific training?
I was trained on the job at the Arches paper mill by experienced assistant machine operators.
What does the ARCHES® brand mean to you?
I’d say it’s a guarantee of quality and prestige.
In your opinion, how do artists see the ARCHES® brand?
ARCHES® Fine Art papers have been well known for over 500 years. So, I think artists see the brand as a symbol of quality and durability in their sector.
What would you like to say to the people reading this article?
I’d like to say that all the papers made by ARCHES® are interesting to produce, and that we do everything we can to ensure their quality is up to standard.
