Arina Albu: an enthusiastic artist with a passion for creative freedom

Arina Albu

Arina Albu is a self-taught artist known for her sensitivity, versatility and deep love of watercolour. Growing up in an immigrant family, she found refuge in artistic expression from a young age, seeing art as both a source of comfort and a powerful means of transformation. For her, art became a path to renewal and personal growth, allowing her to navigate many challenges while flourishing through the creative process.

Driven by an insatiable curiosity, Arina explored a wide range of techniques from the very beginning – including coloured pencil, pastel, oil and acrylic. It was in 2007, however, that she discovered the magic of watercolour, immediately falling under the spell of its fluidity and its sometimes unpredictable dreamlike effects. This technique became her playground of choice – an ever-evolving space for exploration, self-questioning and inner well-being.

In 2015, Arina opened her first social media accounts, gradually building a loyal community. Then, she began creating commissioned portraits and fan art. Seeking to move away from the sometimes restrictive framework of academic realism, she turned to watercolour to explore a freer approach – where abstract and figurative art merge together and expression sits alongside fine detail.

Drawing inspiration from contemporary artists like Yuko Nagayama, Agnes Cecile and Dimitra Milan, Arina shaped her own distinctive style defined by contrast and nuance, inviting viewers to explore the fluid boundaries between emotion and representation.

As her influence grew and demand from her followers increased, she soon discovered her calling to be a teacher. Driven by a deep desire to share what art had given her – confidence, inspiration, resilience – she created courses and workshops accessible to all. Today, she offers a wide range of online programmes for all levels and leads several informal artistic communities dedicated to painting and creative fulfilment.

Arina is convinced that art holds a powerful capacity to heal and transform lives: it creates connections between people, sheds light on their personal journeys and contributes to their growth. Eager to share this with as many people as possible, she has made it her mission to help others discover their creativity and draw strength from it in everyday life. She believes that as art and creativity are deeply embedded in human nature, they are within everyone’s reach. Everyone has the ability to learn, express themselves and give life to their artistic aspirations.
