Dominique Laugé photography exhibition in Gaillac

An exhibition of photos by Dominique Laugé entitled La lumière du sombre runs from 14 to 28 January 2024 at the Centre pour la Photographie at the Château de l’Hom de Gaillac, France.

For several years Dominique Laugé has been working on photographing nature scenes at dawn and dusk.
The photographs are taken in low light, which shows up certain parts of the natural elements in the scenes which would normally remain invisible in daylight. These light conditions stimulate the viewer’s imagination and allow them to project into the mysteries of nature.

The exhibition consists of about thirty photos printed using the Piezography® process and in colour on ARCHES® Aquarelle 640 gsm and Velin BFK Rives® 300 gsm papers in sizes 56 x 76 cm and 80 x 120 cm.

What is Piezography®?
Piezography® is a digital printing process using carbon pigments invented by Jon Cone in the 1990s. The coloured inks in the printer are replaced by shades of grey and a deep black. Printer drivers are also modified to achieve optimum printing of black and white photos.

Thanks to this system, black and white images can be printed on all types of paper, and the results are particularly remarkable on ARCHES® traditional uncoated papers such as Velin BFK Rives®, Moulin du Gué®, ARCHES® 88 and ARCHES® Aquarelle, including on the heaviest grade, 640 gsm.
