Richard Thorn: watercolour as second nature!

It was at the age of 28, after spending his early years drawing, that Richard naturally moved on to watercolour. By dint of hard work and experimentation, he has perfected his art to such a degree where he is now recognised worldwide.

The artist has displayed his work in numerous galleries in England, and particularly in London.
The exhibition of his work at the Royal Institute (dedicated to watercolourists) earned him two prizes in 2016 and 2017.
A keen experimenter, he likes to work with original materials, such as gouache and watercolour inks, and to mix techniques.

Many of his works have been printed. For example, in 2016 his book “Down an English Lane” appeared, in which we discover the Devon and Cornwall countryside through the numerous lanes that criss-cross the two counties.

Richard is a member of WSAc (the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts) and is one of the artists in the Arborealists group of English artists.
His work has been covered in many magazine articles such as “The Artist”, “Pratique des Arts” and “Complete Watercolour”.
