The world is so chaotic. There is a climate crisis and war. It creates turmoil in my head and fills it with existential questions. We are here for a moment and then we are gone. What can we contribute? When I walk around in my studio and work, my body is in balance. There is something I can control, namely my own process, whereas everything that happens outside is impossible for me to control. That’s also why I need a slow, strict working method – I often spend a year completing a piece. So many terrible things can happen in a single day while I’ve just been drawing a leaf. It gives me an incredible peace.
