The Little Prince in braille

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the first edition of The Little Prince, the Fondation Saint-Exupéry has launched a project to create embossed versions of a selection of 23 illustrations by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

The Arrimage association/Editions Claude Garrandès has been asked to produce this book of tactile art. Engraver René David has created the relief images of the illustrations to adapt them to touch reading. Claude Garrandès, President of the association, and his team of volunteers, have produced the bilingual texts in both large print and braille for the description of the embossed images.

The Little Prince, the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry the most read and translated in the world, is therefore now accessible to the visually impaired, who can discover and enjoy the poetic magic of this delightful tale. Each picture is accompanied by a quote from the original book.

It is only in the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye

The book is entirely printed on Velin d’ARCHES® 300 gsm paper.

Arrimage is an association that works to create embossed images to foster the development of the “mental images” for visually impaired and blind people.
